What caused the structure of the change in the Yeni Azerbaijan Party?
Baku/05.03.21/Turan: At the extraordinary Seventh Congress of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party held today, a number of former officials were removed from the Board of the organization.
In particular, this is the former assistant to the president for public and political issues Ali Hasanov; the former head of the Baku Executive Power Hajibala Abutalibov; the former chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and former Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov; the former head of the presidential administration, now the president of the National Academy of Sciences Ramiz Mehdiyev; and the former Executive Secretary, MP Siyavush Novruzov.
The political council of the party was abolished altogether. Some former officials, who were previously part of the Political Council and the Board, entered a new structure - the Council of Veterans.
What caused the structure and personnel changes in the party? Member of the party's board, MP Eldar Ibrahimov called the changes "very important" and praised the decisions made "highly".
“The party is constantly renewing itself. The election of the 40-member Board, the 35-member Veterans Council, and the 13-member Control and Audit Commission are very important steps. Thus, conditions have been created for the renewal of the party,” Ibrahimov said.
Public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev considers changes in the New Azerbaijan Party to be long overdue. “The party practically cannot perform any function and play a role in society. In addition, she has greatly lost her credibility,” Hajiyev said.
However, the true goal of the congress was not to increase the authority of the party, but to get rid of a number of odious figures. “I believe that this was done in order to neutralize the resources in the hands of these persons, to limit their influence on political parties,” Hajiyev said.
He does not exclude that in the near future some measures will be taken against the former members of the Political Council and the Board, up to the institution of criminal cases. This will give the Yeni Azerbaijan Party a reason to renounce these persons. –06D-
