Gambar: Ideals of Rasulzadeh government incompatible with corrupt regimes

The leader of Musavat, Isa Gambar in the interview with Objective TV shared his views on the current socio - political situation in the country.

How is the political legacy of ADR, which existed for only two years at the beginning of the last century, perceived today? In answering this question, Gambar said that these two periods cannot be compared inherently. We have to distinguish the two years during the reign of Elchibey (1992-93) from the 23 years of independence of Azerbaijan.

This is due to the fact that the ADR period (1918-20) and the period during the reign of Elchibey’s government were guided by virtually identical values, fighting for one common goal.

However, between the Aliyev authorities and the ADR there is diametrically opposite difference. Thus, the ADR government priorities were freedom and independence of the country. But the Aliyev government’s (after 1993) attitudes toward democracy was different.

Now there is no political or economic equality and all rights are violated.

"For this reason it is impossible to compare the corrupt regime and corrupt power with the pure ideals of the Rasulzadeh government," said Gambar.

During the ADR the Parliament represented all real political powers. Now, with the Aliyev regime the parliament is “appointed,” including those who agree with the government.

In the times of the ADR the country developed fundamental freedoms. It concerned freedom of assembly and association, as well as personal freedom in the economic and political fields.

In Aliyev's rule all these freedoms are totally restricted.

The current power in Azerbaijan is actually trying to keep people outside the voting - it is also a fundamental difference.

"Here is an example of the rule of law in the ADR times: police wanted to arrest one Bolshevik, a member of parliament, for committing provocations. However, the arrest was not possible without the permission of Parliament. This man escaped and came back with the Bolsheviks on April 27, 1920. This fact indicates the significance attached by the ADR to democracy and the rule of law. The current power imprisons dissidents who do not want to obey it, and want to live with dignity. This is also the ratio of the fundamental freedoms."

For the ADR the goal was integration into Europe and this was reflected in the flag and motto of the country. For the present authorities, European integration means putting their money there, leisure and lifestyle. This authority does not wish real integration into Europe.

As for Karabakh, the ADR government once fully stopped riots, preventing separatism. Then Karabakh was under the complete control of Azerbaijan.

Under the current regime Karabakh is occupied and the Aliyev regime takes no action to liberate Karabakh.

Isa Gambar recalled the recent interview with U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar in which the U.S. diplomat made only the slightest hint that angered the authorities a lot. If today there were not the United States and Europe, it would be difficult to stop attempts of expansion by Russia.

"Today, the situation in Azerbaijan is very complex, with injustice, bribery, lack of an independent judiciary, political prisoners, unemployment, violation of property rights - all this creates a terrible atmosphere, which is very difficult to sustain. However, everyone knows that it is not associated with the independence of Azerbaijan. This negativity is associated with the power in Azerbaijan. We have to become masters of our country, freedom and independence."

Azerbaijani authorities should support the Azerbaijanis living in any part of the world. In particular, this applies to tens of millions of our compatriots living in Iran. Everyone having Azerbaijani roots should have the right to be a citizen of Azerbaijan. The current government of Azerbaijan does not give such a right.

Isa Gambar expressed hope that in the formation of a true government of Azerbaijan all these issues will be solved. He urged his compatriots to believe in the idea of independence of Azerbaijan, the country's future and the sacred colors of the national flag. -03V/04-
