Baku / 23.01.18 / Turan: The examination for admission to the Bar is scheduled for January 28. It will be attended by 1,961 candidates, according to a report by the Bar Association. Note that in addition to the test exam, candidates also have to pass an oral interview.
It is at the second stage, according to independent experts, that obstacles are being created for admission of lawyers known with an active civic stance.
The admission of new lawyers occurs against the backdrop of the dismissal of well-known defenders, representing civil, political and religious activists, journalists and bloggers.
Two months ago, the powers of lawyer of Yalchin Imanov were terminated. Yesterday the work of the lawyer Fakhraddin Mehdiyev was suspended for a year. Another lawyer Aghil Lahyjov received a reprimand.
To date, 934 lawyers are members of the Bar. This is very small for a country with a population of 10 million.
Moreover, the deficit of lawyers increased due to the entry into force on January 1, 2018 of new rules, according to which only members of the Bar Association can represent citizens in the courts of law. -06D--
