Arrested activist sues with remand center
Baku / 10.08.18 / Turan: The detained head of the Youth Committee of the People's Front Party (PFPA), Ruslan Nasirli, sued Kurdakhan remands center for violating his right to meetings and telephone conversations with his family. After Ruslan's arrest on May 25, he has not been allowed to speak with his family members on the phone, or to meet in the pre-trial detention center during three months, Ruslan"s relatives told. His lawyer Fariz Namazli appealed to the management of the remand center, from where he was told that the restrictions were imposed by the investigative body.
However, in the Investigation Department of Serious Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office, the lawyer was told that no restrictions were imposed by this investigative body.
* On May 25, PFPA activists Agil Magerramov, Ruslan Nasirli and Babek Hasanov were arrested. They were attracted together with the former head of the Gedabay region, Saleh Rustamov and his nephew Vidadi Rustamli. Everyone was accused of "money laundering," and financing the PFPA. Human rights activists recognized all the accused as political prisoners.-06B-
