Baku / 06.07.17 / Turan: On Thursday the Sabail District Court under the chairmanship of Ayten Aliyeva continued the trial in the case of the financial director of Azadlig newspaper, Faik Amirov. The trial was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions and journalists.
In the previous trial, the prosecutor petitioned to read the testimony given during the investigation, since the witnesses themselves are not on trial again.
The lawyer protested: "In the beginning, we were against questioning the witnesses, because these people are irrelevant, but their interrogation in the course of the judicial investigation showed that their testimony was in our favor.
On the other hand, Faik cannot attend the trial because of his health. It is necessary to come to a common denominator. We have additional witnesses - who participated in the search of the car and the house of Faik Amirov. We ask to interrogate them in court ... ".
Lawyer Mehdiyev objected the petition of the prosecutor. The judge did not satisfy the prosecution's motion. Then the witness Rena Efendiyeva was invited to the hall. She said she did not know Faik Amirov: "I just advertised to the newspaper about the loss of documents last year. I paid 1 or 2 manats for this, but did not receive a check." When the witness left the room, Amirov introduced himself saying "Faik is me", which caused laughter in the hall. There were no other witnesses, and the judge postponed the trial for July 10. -0-
