Azadlig Newspaper: Authorities Finally Want to Strangle Us
“The Azerbaijani authorities are adamant in their intention to silence the newspaper Azadlig, the paper’s editorial board stated on September 7.
The document notes that the CFO of the newspaper, Faig Amirov, was first arrested on trumped-up assistance-to-Gulen charges, and then they began to create artificial obstacles for banking operations of the newspaper. As a result, the newspaper was forced to stop its release.
The editorial board is convinced that these actions of the authorities are aimed to finally silence the first independent newspaper of modern Azerbaijan.
The newspaper Azadlig called on the Press Council, local and international organizations, foreign embassies and all the political forces interested in building the rule of law in Azerbaijan to take into account what is happening and not remain indifferent.
From September 6 the publishing house Azerbaijan has suspended publication of the newspaper Azadlig because of its debts. -06D--

Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
