Azerbaijan Creates Food Safety Agency
On February 10 the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on additional measures to improve food security in the country, the site of the head of state said.
According to the decree, in order to ensure Azerbaijan's regulatory food safety (development and approval of sanitary norms and rules, as well as hygienic standards), risk analysis, work on the sanitary certification, including the granting of the certificate of food product quality and the safety of foods exported to foreign countries, the Food Safety Agency is created in Azerbaijan.
It will also carry out the state control in the sphere of consumer protection in the field of food products and at all stages of food production based on the principle "from field to table".
The Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmedov was appointed Chairman of the Agency. -06D--

During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border.
