Azerbaijan is 90th in International Index of Motherhood
In the ranking of World Mother's Index Belarus was named the best in the CIS countries where mothers and children are created better living conditions.
World Mother's Index for 15 years has been compiled by the international humanitarian organization Save the Children and it shows which countries made the best and worst conditions for mothers and children. It takes into account variables such as maternal mortality and mortality of young children, the duration of schooling, income of women.
In the ranking Belarus is on the 25th place among 127 countries. Russia occupies the 56th place, Kazakhstan - 58, Ukraine - 69, Moldova - 81, Georgia - 86, Azerbaijan - 90, Armenia - 103, Kyrgyzstan - 107, Uzbekistan - 118, Tajikistan - 127. Total in the ranking 179 countries were analyzed. By the way, Belarus is the best indicator among the CIS countries.
Interestingly, if in Belarus one of every 45,000 women dies from pregnancy complications, Azerbaijan and Armenia have one of every 1,800 women dead from that. The infant mortality rate in Belarus is also significantly lower - 4.9 deaths per 1,000 live births. In Azerbaijan the index is 34.2 per 1,000 newborn babies and in Armenia it is 15.
The best countries for the birth and upbringing of children are traditionally Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Australia and Belgium.
The outsiders are Somalia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Mali and Niger. -0--
