Bakhtiyar Hajiyev complained about inhuman treatment in prison hospital
Baku/19.02.23/Turan: Public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev continues his hunger strike for 42 days. At the same time, from February 16, he went on a dry hunger strike.
Today, February 19, lawyers and family members of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev were not allowed to meet with him at the medical institution of the penitentiary service. Only after contacting the "hot line" of the ombudsman's office, Hajiyev was allowed to contact lawyers Elchin and Zibeyda Sadigov and their relatives.
"The condition of Bakhtiyar Hajiyev is extremely difficult. He hardly spoke on the phone, his voice was very weak, he spoke with pauses. Bakhtiyar Hajiyev said that the guards in his room turn on the TV loudly and do not let him sleep," E. Sadigov told Turan .
The activist asked the lawyer to write a complaint to the prison service in connection with the inhuman treatment. At the same time, Hajiyev is ready to resume drinking water if the psychological pressure on him stops and the guards are removed from his room.
*Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai district court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release. On December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent calls from the public and family members. However, on January 9, he resumed his hunger strike after the appeal court refused to release him and continues to this day. On the 39th day of the hunger strike, he also refused water.—03B06-
