Because of snowfall limited traffic on the road Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh
Due to heavy snowfall, sleet covered highways in mountainous regions. In particular, limited is traffic in the Agsu pass (the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh highway), as well as the pass Ismayilli-Muganli, and the roads Ismayilli-Lahidj and Shamakhi-Pirgulu.
Despite clearing the roads, State Traffic Police encourage drivers not to use these roads, and to use alternative roads - Baku-Gazakh, Kurdamir-Agsu, Ujar-Goychay, and Agdash-Gabala.
Bad weather in some areas has caused emergency on the road. Thus, in the village of Dag Chayir, 20 km from the town of Shamkir a VAZ, which had five people, was caught in a snow storm and ran off the road. Rescue officers arrived to help and no one was hurt.
According to forecasters, at the weekend precipitation will stop and clear weather is expected. However, the temperature will remain low and ice on the roads will continue.
In Baku and Absheron the temperatures at night will be -1 +3 Celsius, and by day +1 +5 Celsius. -06D-
