International conference held in Baku "CIS Muslims for peace and sustainable development" resulted in signing a final document. The conference was held in the frameworks of the second meeting of the Advisory Council of the CIS Muslims.
The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the interaction of Muslim communities in post-Soviet space, combining the efforts of religious leaders in combating religious extremism, commitment to multiculturalism and tolerance.
The final document condemned terrorism in all its manifestations, acts of violence and vandalism motivated by religious intolerance, insulting religious sanctities and the feelings of believers.
At the same time, concern was expressed about the continued Islamophobia and intolerance towards Muslims in some countries. The necessity of cooperation in the field of religious education, exchange of experience, information, and teachers.
It is necessary to create a permanent working group of the Advisory Board of the Muslims of the CIS and the Advisory Board Foundation for the implementation of the objectives.
At the Baku meeting, the head of the Caucasian Muslims Board, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, was elected a chairman of the Advisory Council of the CIS Muslims for the second five-year term.—06D-
