Counterattacks on the part of Ramiz Mehdiyev
Baku/02.03.22/Turan: President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev reacted to the demands for his resignation, which were voiced the day before by several scientists, including the director of the Institute of History and a member of parliament.
True, this time Mehdiyev did not do it personally, although in the past he published angry replies to his critics on the ANAS website. Today, the director of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, Abbas Seyidov, has assumed the role of Mehdiyev's defender.
In an article on the ANAS website (science.az), he called Mehdiyev's critics "liars". Seyidov recalled that Mehdiyev was elected at the general meeting by the academicians themselves, calling his personnel policy "successful." Seyidov believes that Mehdiyev's merits are deliberately hushed up by those whom he dismissed from office. At the same time, he calls Mehdiyev an "innovator" and his opponents "slanderers."
This speech of the director of the institute was sent out by the press service of ANAS to all Azerbaijani media, which may indicate a personal instruction of Mehdiyev.
Seyidov's speech may mean that the once all-powerful head of the presidential administration has decided to counterattack his opponents. –0-
