Elmar Veliyev Sent to Israel for Treatment
Baku / 06.07.18 / Turan: Despite the expiration of three days after the armed attack on the head of Ganja, Elmar Veliyev, the authorities do not provide information about the reasons for the resonant crime, nor about the health of the head of the second largest city in the country.
The Ministry of Health claims that they do not have information, because the case is under investigation.
However, Veliyev's close relative told Turan that Veliyev was sent to Israel for treatment at night.
Speaking about his state of health, the source said that he "only regained consciousness."
According to eyewitnesses, Veliyev suffered a serious head injury not from the shot, but from falling down from the stairs after the bullet hit him in the stomach.
According to the same sources, the bodyguard received two bullet wounds. One of them hit the stomach, another touched his face. His condition is satisfactory and he continues treatment in Ganja.
There is no clarity around the identity of the gunman, Yunis Safarov.
The Azerbaijani Presidential Aide Ali Hasanov called the attack on Veliyev "ordinary crime."
According to other versions, Safarov "avenged" Veliyev for insulting his sister, who came to the city administration with a complaint.
Also in social networks, there is an audio recording of a woman claiming that Safarov was her husband, and the motives for his armed attack were revenge for insulting the believers and Imam Huseyn.
The same woman persistently denied the version about "revenge for the offended sister".
According to her, in Ganja Safarov has no close relatives.
At the same time, the indignation of social network users was caused by the spread of Safarov's photo with signs of violence on his body.
Law enforcers first denied the authenticity of the photo. However, later the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ehsan Zahidov, said the photo was really Safarov"s, and he received personal injuries while resisting police officers.
Then the question arises - how did the photo from the police department get into social networks?
Many questions are given rise by the reports that Safarov several months ago took away a police officer"s weapon, and despite his declarations in search he was able to leave Azerbaijan and returned with another passport. -06D--

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
