Employees from the Department of Culture are Convicted in Sheki
The trial in the case of appropriating 2.2 million manat by the Department of Culture of Sheki was completed Friday in the Sheki Court of Grave Crimes. Earlier, the state prosecutor asked the court to imprison 14 defendants to terms ranging from three to 11 years.
The court sentenced 12 defendants to probation, according to the regional correspondent of Turan.
At the same time, two women were imprisoned. The former head of the cultural department of Sheki, Elmira Mammadova, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The chief accountant, Sevinj, was sentenced to nine years. The employees of the financial department and the executive power of the region, who repeatedly audited the Culture Department, avoided responsibility. Violations were revealed only by inspectors from Baku.–0-
