European Olympic Committee is satisfied with the preparations for the games "Baku 2015"
Baku/04.04.14/Turan : Vice-President of the European Olympic Committee (EOC) Djanes Kochizhanchich praised preparations for the first European games in Baku in the summer 2015. At a press conference on April 4 in Baku, he expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will prepare successfully. A video showing the preparations for the "Baku -2015" was presented at the press conference.
Kochizhanchich said that tests will be conducted on the sports venues. They will be organized by the EOC and the sports federations of Azerbaijan.
The participation of over 6,000 athletes from 49 European countries is expected.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Azad Rahimov, on eight kinds of sports competitions in Baku will become licensed tournaments to qualify for participation in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. -26D06-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
