Fifteen Years in Jail for Murdering Gazelle and Wounding Gamekeeper
Baku / 24.08.18 / Turan: A verdict was read in the Shirvan district court on two individuals who illegally hunted gazelles in the Shirvan National Park on March 30 and wounded a gamekeeper of this National Park with a firearm.
The Ministry of Ecology reports that for illegal hunting and deliberate wounding of a gamekeeper of the Shirvan National Park, Rahil Agayev was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with serving his sentence in a strict regime jail. Elvin Israfilov was sentenced to two years in prison in a general regime prison.
In addition, the defendants were fined 1,650 manat for illegal hunting gazelles.
It should be noted that the Shirvan National Park is the only place in Azerbaijan where several thousand gazelles live, listed in the Red Book of the country. Hunting for these rare antelopes has been banned in Azerbaijan for more than 50 years. -16D-
