Fuad Ahmedli Put in Punishment Cell
Baku / 27.12.18 / Turan: Fuad Ahmedli, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who is serving a prison sentence in Prison No. 16, was detained in prison for 3 days on December 26. This was reported by members of his family.
The reasons for punishing the activist are unknown. The Prison Service refrained from commenting the matter. "The assignment of punishment to a convicted person for violation of the internal rules is in the competence of the institution"s management. The Prison Service does not comment on such cases," the head of the public relations department of the Prison Service, Mehman Sadigov said.
* Fuad Ahmedli was arrested on August 17, 2018, on a false accusation of "violating the norms of the law on operational investigative activities," in particular, the dissemination of personal data of Azerfon mobile users. In addition, he was accused of abuse of office.
On June 16, 2017, Ahmedli was sentenced to 4 years in prison. On August 17, the appellate court upheld the verdict. Ahmedli is recognized as a political prisoner. -03B06-
