Goalkeeper of FC Karabakh Detained after Fatal Traffic Accident
The goalkeeper of FC Karabakh Emil Balayev has committed a traffic accident, as a result of which a child was killed. The accident took place on December 7 in the Surakhani district of Baku, near the football club’s base.
The goalkeeper’s BMW X5 with state number signs 10-OH-111 crashed into a Mercedes. As a result, a 6-month-old baby in the Mercedes died, and its parents are in grave condition.
Information about the accident was confirmed by the Executive Director Emrah Cherikel, who spoke to Turan IA. According to him, the goalkeeper was arrested and is in the Surakhani district police office.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper Balayev began his professional career in Neftchi, Baku. He further played at the Sumgait and Mil-Mugan teams.
In 2014, Balayev joined Eintracht in Germany’s Bundesliga as the third goalkeeper.
This year he returned to Azerbaijan, signing a contract with FC Karabakh, and became the second goalkeeper.
It is noteworthy that FC Karabakh will play the final match of the group stage of the Europa League with the Italian Fiorentina in Baku today, maintaining a theoretical chance of reaching the 1/16 finals. -05B-
