Head of the Supreme Court on Trial Statistics
Baku / 17.04.19 / Turan: In 2018, the courts of first instance considered 246,920 cases: 224,584 civil, 5,029 economic and 17,307 administrative disputes. This was announced at a press conference by the head of the country's Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev.
Compared to 2017, the number of cases reviewed decreased by 30.5%. Last year, the number of cases canceled on the basis of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights also decreased, Rzayev said. However, he didn"t name specific figures and didn"t say what kind of sanctions was imposed on the judges who passed the wrong sentences.
In 2018, the number of cases considered by the civil, criminal and military colleges of the Supreme Court decreased: by 6.5%, by 3.1% and by 8.9%. At the same time, the number of cases considered by the economic and administrative board increased by 4%, he said.
According to Rzayev, the courts have stopped the production of problem loans. This happened after the publication of a presidential decree on this issue. A joint working group with the Chamber of Financial Supervision was established to implement the decree of the President of the country. -02D-
