Incident in Karabakh causes anti-Russian sentiment in Azerbaijan

Baku/28.12.20/Turan: The attack of an Armenian sabotage group on Azerbaijani servicemen in the Khojavend region on December 27, which resulted in the death of one Azerbaijani and six Armenian servicemen, caused a new surge of criticism against Russia in the expert community of Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has warned Armenia, promising to resort to the most severe measures in case if such incidents repeat. The warning almost repeats a similar statement by President Aliyev on the eve of visiting the liberated from occupation of Gubadli. The expert community of Azerbaijan blames Russia for the incident, which has undertaken the mission of maintaining the ceasefire.

In his statement, the chair of the Popular Front Party, Ali Karimli, recalls the warnings he had sent earlier about the military threat to Hadrut and Shusha and the assistance of Russian peacekeepers to Armenian terrorists.  Karimli calls to abandon the peacekeepers: "Our army itself is capable of punishing the murderers of the Azerbaijani soldier."

Two days earlier, unofficial sources reported on the arrival of two columns with Armenian soldiers in Karabakh. The buses were let through by the Russian peacekeepers on duty on the Goris road. An article by the Russian media described the procedure for checking Armenian cars by peacekeepers: the peacekeepers see a machine gun in the passenger seat, ask about the registration of weapons and let them through.

Political scientist Elkhan Shainoglu posted a short post on Facebook, calling the Russian peacekeepers the patrons of Armenian terrorists. The chair of the REAL party, Ilgar Mammadov, on Facebook, proposes to set a condition for Moscow: the number of peacekeepers should be reduced as Azerbaijani soldiers are killed. If one of our soldiers or an officer is killed, then the peacekeepers in Karabakh will decrease by 200 people. If two are killed, the number of peacekeepers will reduce by 500. If there are three killed, Russia should withdraws 1000 of its people from Azerbaijan. “Then Moscow will teach Armenians the mind in one second,” the politician writes.

“If there is no such demand and the “NKR” (flag - Ed.) Is on the website of the Russian Defense Ministry, then the enemy will continue to shoot at our military, we will have martyrs,” Mammadov said.

Economics professor Gubad Ibadoglu in his status wrote that Russia has violated the fourth paragraph of the Statement on the end of the war in Karabakh, in which the Russian Federation pledged to deploy its troops as the Armenian army leaves the region. “But the peacekeepers are busy deploying Armenian armed groups on our territory and arming these groups. I did not expect anything else from Russia. I hope for the Azerbaijani people and government. The people and the intelligentsia are silent, and they try to drown out the few speakers with trolls. We cannot keep silent, we must solve our problems, ”Ibadoglu writes.

MP and political scientist Rasim Musabekov in an interview for the media urges Azerbaijan not to relax. “We need to continue to strengthen the army, increase its combat effectiveness and be alert. Anyway, until the state ideology in Armenia changes. "As the head of state very correctly noted, no one can guarantee that, after a few years, Armenian fascism will not raise its head again. Therefore, the Azerbaijani state must always be strong," the Azerbaijani MP summed up.--0--
