Baku / 23.05.18 / Turan: Upon completion of the term of imprisonment, the editor of the online edition www.azel.tv, Afghan Sadigov, was released on May 23.
In a conversation with Turan, he stated that he was convicted on false charges and intends to seek recognition of the illegality of his arrest in the European Court of Human Rights.
The journalist said that during the period of imprisonment he had his health seriously worsened and now intends to recover. Sadigov also said he will continue journalistic activities and will remain an adherent of the freedom of speech.
It should be reminded that Afghan Sadigov was detained on November 22, 2016. He was accused of having struck a woman in the building of the executive power of the Jalilabad region. He was sentenced to 2.5 years, but then the term was reduced to 1.5 years imprisonment.
Human rights organizations recognized him as a political prisoner. -03B06--
