On Saturday, Attorney Asabali Mustafayev visited the blogger and Nida youth activist Zaur Gurbanli, in the Organized Criminality Department (OCD). Gurbanli was arrested on September 29 for 15 days on charges of resisting police.
According to the lawyer, Gurbanli complained about his treatment and the conditions of detention.
In addition to charges of disobeying police, no further investigation or interrogation regarding Gurbanli is available. However, the blogger rejects allegations attributed to him.
As to why the activist is contained in OCD, and not in the Point of Administrative Detention, the decision was taken by the court, for unknown reasons.
The blogger's colleagues and fellow civil society activists believe that Gurbanli was arrested for publishing pamphlets, on the cover of which there was placed a call against Ilham Aliyev. Immediately after his arrest, the police confiscated all 8,000 copies of the booklet. They also removed all the printed materials relating to the opposition NGO Nida. -05B06-
