Mayor Office celebrates the event from the communist past

July 14, is not a public holiday, but the Mayor Office  of Baku celebrates this day with a concert and fireworks on the  boulevard. 

 This is how the  power of the independent Azerbaijan celebrates the anniversary of the election of Heydar Aliyev, the communist leader of Soviet Azerbaijan. On this day in 1969 the chairman of the  KGB  of Azerbaijan SSR, Heydar Aliyev, was elected the first secretary of the Central Committee of the CPA.

The period of  governing  the Soviet Azerbaijan by Aliyev  is controversial because, along with the development of industrial potential,  bribery, corruption, cotton registry, fraternity and nepotism flourished in the country. 

However, the current authorities of Azerbaijan  instill the cult of Heydar Aliyev, dedicating to him a number of calendar days in the year, and  the  most of  active is  the Baku, mayor Hajibala Abutalibov.

On his  order on July 14, a concert, which will end by midnight fireworks  will begin the boulevard. -03B06-
