Media Review October 1, 2019
The role of oil revenues in the implementation of social projects, proposals of deputies on changes to laws, and social issues of residents of Khachmaz are topics of today's media.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that oil revenues are primarily aimed at solving social problems. The author recalls the large social package signed by the President of the country and covering 4 million citizens. It applies to pensions and salaries.
In total, the increase in salaries covered 1 million 350 thousand people, improving their situation. The increase in scholarships and allowances as a whole reached 1.3 million people, of whom more than 300 thousand were disabled, up to 500 thousand were internally displaced persons, and over 100 thousand were students.
The website Modern.az discusses with the deputy Vahid Ahmedov the need to amend a number of bills. This is a Competition Code, which has not been adopted for many years. It is necessary because it cannot be argued that Azerbaijan does not have a monopoly.
In fact, the President of the country proposed this bill in 2019, but the document for discussion of the parliament was not submitted.
Another important document is the Education Loans Bill, as students cannot complete their education.
The website Yeni Sabah.az writes about living conditions in Khachmaz, at 30 Heydar Aliyev Street. The building was built in the late 50s of the last century. The facade of the building has been renovated, but the building itself is in terrible condition: cracked balconies and walls, broken steps, and a leaky roof.
Appeals of the residents remained unanswered. One of the tenants took a loan of 3,000 manat and repaired part of the roof at his own expense, as it was leaking.
The authorities of the region complain about the lack of funds for the repair of the building, although in May 2018, Ilham Aliyev allocated 3 million manats to equip the Khachmaz region.
