Police in the stands is legalized after the incident at the match "Gabala-Apollo"
Azerbaijani parliament expanded the powers of the police in maintaining law and order in sports facilities. The deputies have made amendments to Article 14 of the Law "On Police", according to which the police are obliged to prevent the violation of the rule of law in the stands and the area adjacent to the sports facilities, where the competition is going on. Amendments were adopted after a football club "Gabala" has accused the police of excessive force against their forfeits during a match with Cyprus "Apollo" on 6 August. The Club noted that such behavior prevents the growth of the number of police fans, and called on fans "not to lose heart and keep the team in the stands, and on."
On August 8th the victim of so-called fans became a journalist Rasim Aliyev, who criticized the captain "Gabala" Javid Huseynov for misconduct.
Trends in recent years show that the authorities prefer to strengthen and expand the powers of law enforcement agencies. In this sense, today's decision was a logical continuation of this policy.-0-
