Prizes named after Zardabi are awarded
Union of Journalists of Azerbaijan (UJA) announced today the names of the winners of the award named after the founder of the first Azerbaijani newspaper, Hasanbay Zardabi, which is traditionally awarded on National Press Day - July 22.
Among the recipients are representatives of television.
"National Press Day touches just the print media, but the whole of journalism. First time it was established by presidential decree in 1991, as the Day of the journalist," said Elchin Shikhlinski, the Chairman of the UJA.
Diplomas of Zardabi prizes have been awarded by media representatives:
1. Ibrahim Nabioglu, publicist (for contribution to the development of the modern Azerbaijani press.)
2. Ganira Atashova, ANS TV (for interviews and commentary on current topics.)
3. Saadat Mammedova, Yurd TV (for the TV show "hard line".)
4. Ilgar Rustamov, Xalq qazeti (for a series of articles devoted to the social and public life of the country.)
5. Rashad Rustamov, Mirror newspaper (investigative journalist.)
6. Inglab Shirinov, EL TV in Yevlakh (for analytical program "168 Hours".)
7. Namik Akhmedov, publicist (for the book on the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, "Looking at the banner Turk ...")
8. Elnur Astanbeyli, the newspaper Azadliq (for journalism.)
After the presentation of diplomas, the ceremony of which was held in the auditorium of the newspaper «Xalq Qazeti», the sides exchanged views on the situation of Azerbaijani journalism in 138 years of its creation. —0—

Last night, three earthquakes occurred along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border with magnitudes of 4.8, 3.0, and 3.8, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Service of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported no information about any destruction or casualties as a result of the earthquakes.
