Rauf Mirkadyrov Intends to Get Rehabilitation and Return to Journalism
Released on March 17 by the Baku Court of Appeal, the journalist Rauf Mirkadyrov intends to get complete rehabilitation.
Mirkadyrov said this to journalists, stressing that there was not and could not be any evidence against him by the prosecution, because he did not commit the acts imputed to him - relations with the special services of Armenia and any other country.
Mirkadyrov thinks the criminal case against him is a provocation of special services of the country hostile to Azerbaijan, which involved the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan, unaware of the matter.
However, Mirkadyrov said that during the investigation he was not exerted pressure in order to obtain evidence. "The attitude in the MNS jail was quite correct," he said.
Nevertheless, he considers the fact of residence in solitary confinement for 23 months "ordeal", as he was deprived of the possibility of human communication and remained in the dark about the fate of his family for some time. A special shock for him was the death of his father after a search was conducted at the apartment.
Mirkadyrov intends to return to work as a journalist after improving his health. The journalist needs serious treatment, as he has serious problems with vision, headaches, and hypertension.
Mirkadyrov intends to discuss further actions to achieve full justification with his lawyer. However, he noted he would like to rejoin the family, which is abroad, but restrictions of the probation are an obstacle to this.
Mirkadyrov thanked all those who supported him during his imprisonment and was involved in his release.
Mirkadyrov was arrested in April 2014 on charges of treason and espionage in favor of Armenia. Later he was sentenced to 6 years in prison. The Court of Appeal replaced the real term by a suspended sentence with a probation period of 5 years. -03C06-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
