Regular monitoring of bird flu will be conducted
Monitoring on the state of bird flu in Azerbaijan will be conducted on November 19. According to the press service of the State Veterinary Service in the Ministry of Agriculture, the monitoring will be conducted with the participation of the Ministry of Environment and members of the Hunters’ Society. In the framework of monitoring, shooting of migratory birds of different species will happen in Absheron, Salyan, Shabran, Agjabedi and Lankaran. Blood samples of poultry in private households and farms will also be taken. Monitoring results will be announced on November 30.
Currently the level of epizootic avian influenza in the country is stable, according to the State Veterinary Service (SWS).
Hunting of waterfowl, which migrate through Azerbaijan in spring and autumn and are the main carriers of the flu, has been banned in Azerbaijan for the past seven years. Although no cases of avian flu have been detected in recent years, a few years ago, hunting for waterfowl in the countries neighboring with Azerbaijan was allowed. -02D-
