Sentence on Theologian Appealed
The sentence on the former head of a sector of the Caucasian Muslims Department (CMD), theologian Elshan Mustafaoglu, has been appealed, the lawyer for Mustafaoglu, Afghan Mammadov told Turan.
Mustafaoglu was arrested on charges of treason in 2014. He denied the accusation. The defense believes Mustafaoglu was the victim of a provocation and the arbitrariness of the former Ministry of National Security. On December 30 the verdict of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced Mustafaoglu to 10 years in prison. -05D06--
