Students in hijabs are not admitted to lessons in the Oil Academy
Today about 10 religious students in hijab today, were not admitted to classes in the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (ASOA.)
Guards did not let the girls in the main the building, citing the fact that the wearing of the hijab with domestic Charter Academy.
"There were rumors that attendance in hijab will not be allowed, but I did not believe that this will become a reality. I'm in my fourth year, soon we must defend the graduation paper, but we are not allowed. I can not walk around with uncovered head," Turan was told by a believer student, who requested anonymity.
Another girl said she feared that because of the ban on the hijab, she will miss lessons and fail exams. Students-believers are furious that representatives of the Oil Academy do not clarify the issue.
Local observers believe that in recent days the authorities deliberately increase the pressure on the faithful. It is believed that the government provoked the protests of the believers in order to show the West that on the eve of the presidential election, religious sentiments reinforce in the country, and it is not related to the problem of human rights violations.
The problem of the hijab is not new, the authorities motivate the ban of hijabs by the Education Act, which prohibits wearing of headscarves in schools. These bans regularly cause the protests of Islamists who organize mass protests in front of the Ministry of Education.
