The complaint of Afgan Mukhtarly is rejected
Baku / 23.10.17 / Turan: Baku Court of Appeal rejected the complaint of journalist Afgan Mukhtarly, leaving him in custody. Zibeyda Sadigova's lawyer reported, the complaint was filed to extend the arrest of the journalist. According to her, Mukhatli himself at the trial said that he was discriminated. So, he is limited to the right to telephone conversations with relatives and friends; meeting are not allowed. All this, in the journalist's view, confirms the groundlessness of his arrest. The court dismissed the complaint and left the journalist in custody.
* Mukhtarli was abducted on May 29 in Tbilisi and brought to Azerbaijan, where he was charged under three Articles of the Criminal Code: 315 (resistance to a representative of the authority with the use of force), 318.1 (illegal border crossing) and 206.1 (smuggling). Afgan Mukhtarly denies the charges, saying at the trial that his arrest is a political order. On October 13, the court extended the arrest of the journalist until 19 December. . -05B-
