The Court of Appeal did not mitigate the punishment of Fuad Ahmedli
Baku / 04.10.18 / Turan: On Thursday, the Baku Court of Appeal completed consideration of the complaint of a convicted member of the youth committee of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Fuad Ahmedli. The complaint is connected with the refusal of the court of first instance to reduce the punishment due to the serving of one third of the term and transfer to a penal jail. However, the court dismissed the complaint. At the trial, a state-appointed lawyer defended Ahmedli. The former lawyer, Asabali Mustafayev, was suspended from advocacy for a year. On July 20, the Surakhani District Court did not satisfy the appeal of Ahmedli about his parole in connection with the serving of one third of the sentence.
* Fuad Ahmedli was arrested on August 17, 2018, on a false accusation of "violating the norms of the law on operational search activities," in particular, the dissemination of personal data of Azerfon mobile users. In addition, he was accused of abuse of office. On June 16, 2017, Ahmedli was sentenced to four years in prison. On August 17, the appellate court upheld the verdict. Ahmedli is recognized as a political prisoner. -03B06-
