FC Karabakh Lost, but Left Good Impression
Baku / 04.10.18 / Turan: FC Karabakh in the second round of the group stage of the Europa League lost to FC Arsenal, London 0: 3. The match was held at the Baku Olympic Stadium with a full house. The game was watched by over 60 thousand spectators. The final big score, however, does not reflect the character of the game.
FC Karabakh did not flinch in front of the famous rival and caused them a lot of trouble, especially in the first half. Even the missed early goal did not knock down the Azerbaijani team from the rut. The first half passed with the territorial advantage of FC Karabakh.
The home team, at least, had three scoring chances. However, after the strikes of Mahir Madatov and Philip Ozobich, the goalkeeper of the guests saved the team from an inevitable goal. And in one case, Maxim Medvedev in a favorable situation did not hit the target successfully.
The second half began with the attacks of the hosts. However, being carried away by the attacks, FC Karabakh missed a counter-attack of FC Arsenal and the guests doubled the score.
After that, FC Karabakh continued to build attacks, but it did not work as sharply as in the first half of the game. Only once Emegara could not skillfully dispose of the ball in a favorable situation in the goalkeeper's area.
Toward the close FC Karabakh missed another goal after a quick counterattack of the guests.
After two games, FC Karabakh has no points and closes the standings in its group.
It is noteworthy that except the result, all other statistics of the match turned out to be equal. So, both teams struck the gate five times and hit the target four times. Transmission accuracy was 86% for Karabakh and 89% for Arsenal. The score of fouls and yellow cards was also equal to 9-9 and 1-1, respectively. FC Karabakh kicked six corners, and FC Arsenal kicked four. Possession of the ball was 46% - 54%. Nevertheless, the class of FC Arsenal football players turned out to be decisive, and they proved their ability to use scoring chances most efficiently.
In the second match of the group, the Ukrainian FC Vorskla lost to FC Sporting, Lisbon.
After two rounds, FC Arsenal and FC Sporting have scored 6 points each. But thanks to the best goal difference, FC Arsenal is leading.
FC Vorskla, like FC Karabakh, does not have points, but ranks third due to the best difference between goals scored and missed. --06D--
