The court sentenced Giyas Ibrahimov to 10 years in prison
Today Baku Serious Crimes Court verdict was read activists NIDA Giyasov Ibrahimov. Referee structure headed by Enver Seyidov found Bayramov guilty of a large-scale drug trafficking, and sentenced him to 10 years in prison. Interestingly, the judge ordered a heavier penalty be imposed than the prosecutor offered, which asked for Ibrahimov nine years in prison.
Giyas Ibrahimov and Bayram Mammadov were arrested on May 10 on charges of drug trafficking. However, they stated that the real reason for their arrest became the graffiti on the monument to Heydar Aliyev: "Congratulations on the slaves holiday!" and "Down with the system!". Amnesty International recognized the activists "prisoners of conscience". --16 / 36D-
