The court will consider the cassation of spouses Yunus October 26
Hearing the cassation appeal of human rights defenders, the spouses Leyla Yunus and Arif Yunus, was appointed to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan on 26 October at 11:00 am under the chairmanship of Judge Hafiz Nasibov, according to the lawyer Elchin Sadigov. He said that the defense raised the question of termination of the criminal prosecution of the couple and their justification of all charges.
The guilt of the spouses has not been proven during the trial, he said. Leyla and Arif Yunus were arrested in the summer of 2014. On 13 August, 2015 the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced them to 8.5 and 7 years in prison, respectively. "Amnesty International" recognized them "prisoners of conscience".
On December 9, 2015 they were released conditionally on probation for five years. On April 19, after persistent appeals of international organizations they were released from Azerbaijan for treatment abroad.-05C06-
