The investigation puts forward the absurd charges against Hilal Mammadov
Human Rights Committee to protect the rights of chairmen of the Talish Cultural Center and the newspaper "Tolishi Sado" is concerned with the conditions of his detention in prison, because of placing mentally disabled prisoner in his cell, what threatens the live and health of Mammadov.
At a press conference on Friday, the head of the Committee, Rafiq Jalilov, said that representatives of the Penitentiary Service promised to remove that prisoner from Mammadov’s cell, but he did not fulfill his promise.
During five months after the arrest, Mammadov’s family only once was given the opportunity to meet with Mammadov. All other appeals on the meeting were ignored.
The investigation of the charges against him has completed, and Mammadov is familiarizing with them. The accusations are false and they are of the same nature as against the late Novruzali Mamedov, the previous head of the Talish Cultural Centre.
There are absurd things in the investigation materials, like the claim that he was the editor of the Russian-language newspaper "Talish Bulletin".
"Let the investigators look at the last page of the newspaper and read it, who is the editor there," said Jalilov.
Hilal Mammadov was arrested on charges of spying, inciting hatred and drug possession. Although, in fact, he was engaged in human rights activity, and many international organizations demanded his release. -05C-
