The state of health of Avaz Zeynalli, the wife of a journalist, has deteriorated
Baku/17.01.23/Turan: Journalist Avaz Zeynalli, who is under arrest in the pre-trial detention center of the State Security Service, has serious health problems, the wife of the journalist Malahat Gisuri told told Turan.
According to her, high blood sugar and high blood pressure aggravated the cataract and the journalist's eyesight was greatly weakened. He needs urgent eye surgery.
For the examination and organization of treatment of Zeynalli, his wife turned to the head of the State Security Service, the Prosecutor General and the Ombudsman.
“On the other hand, the injustice against Avaz increases the threat to his health. Every day lost for treatment increases health risks,” Gisuri said.
She asks the addressees of her appeal to urgently provide a medical examination of Zeynalli and create conditions for him to contact his family.
Earlier, the investigating authority imposed a ban on Zeynalli's telephone conversations and his meetings with relatives.
The defense appealed this decision. However, the court dismissed the complaint, and the appellate instance upheld this decision.
* Lawyer Elchin Sadigov and "Khural TV" website founder Avaz Zeynalli were detained on September 10 on suspicion of accepting a bribe, and on September 11 the court arrested both.
On September 17, the Baku Court of Appeal transferred Sadigov to house arrest.
Later, Zeynalli brought a new charge under Article 312-1.1 (Illegal influence on the decision of an official (trading in authority) of the Criminal Code. On December 29, Zeynalli's arrest was extended by 3 months.- 03B06-
