Treatment of Human Rights Defender Gyulalyev Continues in Baku
Baku / 09.11.20 / Turan: The day before, human rights activist Ogtay Gyulaliyev, after long-term treatment at the American Hospital Istanbul, was returned to Baku. His treatment continues at home. This was reported by the activist’s spouse Firuza Gyulalyeva.
The flight did not affect the human rights defender's condition, she said. Ogtay wiggles his hands and opens his eyes, but consciousness has not returned to him, said his wife.
Medical personnel have been assigned to take care of Gyulalyev and treat him. The family themselves wanted Gyulalyev to be returned to Baku and treated at home.
Recall that as a result of an accident on October 29, 2019, Gyulalyev received a head injury and fell into a coma a few hours later. He was operated on only the next day, and according to experts, during this time the cerebral hemorrhage increased.
Later, on behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Gyulalyev was transported to Turkey, where he underwent several operations. Despite the positive momentum, he still hasn't regained consciousness.
Taxi driver Kenan Abdullayev was brought in as a defendant in the accident case. Initially, he was charged under Article 263.1 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (violation of traffic rules, resulting in negligent harm to the health of the victim), but now he is charged under Article 263.1-1. Criminal Code - causing grievous harm to the health of the victim. The maximum punishment that threatens him is three years in prison. —0-
