Zagatala School Opened by Ilham Aliyev Cracked
The three-storey school building in the village Gezbarah of the Zagatala district has developed a large crack 0.5-1 cm wide, which extends from the foundations to the roof.
The crack was detected by the joint monitoring group of journalists and media of the Civil Society Kura Staff.
The perplexity is that the school for 500 students was built for the new school year by the construction company Gilan and the red ribbon at the opening of the school was cut by President Ilham Aliyev.
The school construction began after the 6-magnitude earthquake in May. The building of schools, homes and community facilities is accompanied by financial and physical theft. The Kura Staff warned the authorities about the negative situation in the region after the earthquake that swept the north-west - Gakh, Zagatala, and Balakan.
Affected were some seven thousand objects. About 250 million manat was allocated to manage the consequences. The exact amount of the allocated funds is hidden by the government. Authorities promised to rebuild 32 schools by the fall, and to build and repair the damaged homes, but only a negligible amount of this work has been performed. -0 -
