French Senate adopts resolution calling for sanctions against Azerbaijan and recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic
Baku / 15.11.22 / Turan: On November 15, the French Senate adopted a resolution in support of Armenia and proposed imposing sanctions against Azerbaijan.
“The resolution also reads:
- demands the withdrawal of the armed forces of Azerbaijan from the sovereign territory of Armenia and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia;
- calls for the release of all Armenian prisoners of war and their repatriation to their homeland;
- invites the French government, in cooperation with European partners, to introduce diplomatic and economic measures and sanctions against the property of the Azerbaijani authorities, as well as to impose an embargo on the import of gas and oil from Azerbaijan;
- confirms the need to recognize the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and invites the government to establish a humanitarian office in Nagorno-Karabakh;
- invites the government to consider the possibility of supporting the strengthening of the defense capability of Armenia.” -0-

On February 3, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan annulled the results of the municipal elections held on January 29 at six polling stations. In particular, the voting results were declared invalid due to violations identified at polling stations NN: 42, 43, 44, 45, 46 in the 81st Imishli constituency.

The opposition party “Musavat” has demanded the release of all political prisoners and stated that the authorities are responsible for their health conditions, it was announced at a meeting of the party's Executive Board (Divan) on Monday. “Musavat” expressed concern over reports of health problems among many political prisoners, including civil society activists Anar Mamedli and Alekser Mamedli.

The consideration of the lawsuit filed by Hafiz Babaly, the editor of the economics department at Turan news agency, against the online publication Qafqazinfo.az, is being unjustifiably delayed. Babaly had been arrested in connection with the Abzas Media case.

By the order of the head of state, Rufat Azizov (born 1980) has been appointed the rector of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University.
