Armenia is doing everything to postpone the signing of the peace agreement

Baku/07.29.21/Turan: Acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed, "To place the CSTO monitoring group on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border." Political observer Ahmed Alili spoke about the reasons that prompted the Armenian leader to come up with such a proposal, as well as the reason for another violation of the ceasefire agreement by Armenia in the "Difficult Question" program.

According to the expert, Armenia is interested in violating the ceasefire in order to postpone the signing of any agreements. At the level of public consciousness and in the majority of state structures in Armenia, there is an opinion that if Yerevan now agrees with anything, it will be its defeat. They expect that after a while, Armenia will recover from defeat, gain strength and then she will be able to sign a peace agreement on more acceptable terms.

Alili believes that Armenia, in order to postpone the signing of the peace agreement, delays the process of forming a government. This allows Nikol Pashinyan to appeal to the fact that he does not have a working structure and therefore cannot take part in the negotiation process. Armenia itself has already withdrawn from the process of negotiations being conducted at the level of the first deputy prime ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. At this level, not even political, but purely technical issues were resolved. However, Armenia withdrew from this process. Reforms have started at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. This means that these structures are not functional and Pashinyan takes advantage of this.

The observer also noted that the permanent violation of the fire regime makes it possible to inspire the citizens of Armenia with the idea that peace has not yet come, the country is in a state of war. If so, then peace negotiations are impossible, delimitation and demarcation of borders is impossible. To confirm this thesis, Yerevan needs instability. It seems that Yerevan is seriously expecting to drag out this process for years.

Alili doubted that Russia was behind the violations of the fire regime. During the Second Karabakh War, Russia suffered serious reputational losses. Non-observance of the cease-fire regime causes even greater damage to Russia's reputation, since it shows that it is unable to fulfill its peacekeeping mission. This destroys the foundation of the presence of "peacekeepers" in Karabakh. The question arises - if the Russian peacekeeping contingent was brought in to ensure security, but is not able to provide it, why is it needed there? Therefore, in theory, Russia should do everything to prevent this question from being asked. On the other hand, the Caucasus is such a specific region that the slightest clash in the South Caucasus can instantly detonate in the North. Therefore, Russia here is trying to extinguish promptly any hotbed of conflict.

Referring to Nikol Pashinyan's proposal to place Russian border posts on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as observers from the CSTO, Alili said that Azerbaijan had already made it clear that only Azerbaijani border guards would protect the Azerbaijani border. -0-
