Agricultural production increased by 10.4%
During six months this year production of agrarian sector totaled about 2 billion AZN, up 10.4% against the same period in 2011.
A source from the State Statistical Committee told Turan that by July 1, 2012 production of crops totaled 1.6 million tons (+415,000 tons), vegetables – 315,000 tons (+2.7%), melons and gourds - 48,000 tons (+66.4%), fruit and berries – 72,000 tons (+14%). Production of potatoes totaled 246,000 tons and reduced by 7.7%. The tendency towards reduction of tea production has become irreversible. By July 1, 2012 277.7 tons of tea was collected, down 2.9% against the same period in 2011. The crop production increased by 17.5%.
The volume of cattle-breeding products increased by 5.5%. Meat production totaled 214,000 tons (+3.2%) and milk – 856,000 tons (+7.3%). Egg production decreased by 16% against the same period last year and totaled 600 million pieces.
According to the State Statistical Committee, by July 1, 2012 cattle totaled 2.7 million (+1.5%) and sheep and goats – 8,741,000 (+1.3%).—0--

In Azerbaijan, the government has increasingly relied on tax exemptions for imported goods as a tool to stabilize domestic market prices.
