Baku to Discuss Risks of Microfinance
A two-day international microfinance conference organized by the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association (AMFA), on "Time to think: Risk Management" started in Baku today.
In his opening speech the Chairman AMFA Suleiman Kalashov, appreciating the pace of development of the microfinance market in Azerbaijan, including the main factors hindering the process noted the lack of credit insurance and poor credit culture and education. According to him, the entity led by him in this regard has already prepared a project to create in Azerbaijan special guarantee fund for the insurance of agricultural loans.
On the first day of the event, the participants will discuss the issues of an adequate internal control system, borrowing and over-borrowing, the introduction of appropriate technologies for the microfinance sector in Azerbaijan in remote regions. By the end of the day there will be a ceremony of awarding AMFA members in the category "Organization of the Year" and "Professional of the Year."
The final day of the conference will be devoted to the role of women in microfinance, financial literacy skills of middle management, the social activities at the country level, etc.
The event was attended by over 150 delegates from 15 countries, including Russia, Georgia, Bosnia, the Central Asian republics, etc. The principal partner of the conference is Pasha Bank. -15C-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
