Burning oil well in Caspian Sea extinguished by 5 vessels
Extinguishing of the oil well on the platform No10 on Guneshli field, which caught fire on Friday evening, is being carried out by five vessels, said Balamirza Agaragimov, Senior Engineer of Azneft company, at a press conference on Sunday.
“Five vessels are used to extinguish the fire. But we are not going to be able to fully extinguish the fire this way, because the vessels are too far away from the platform. The works are also done on the offshore platform to use the water pipeline to make extinguishing more efficient,” said Agamirov.
At present average wind speed in the sea is 12-17 m/s and sometimes gusts of the wind reach 20-23 m/s.-0—
