In the five months, cement production in Azerbaijan decreased by 30.3%. This is primarily due to the fall in business activity and a reduction in public investment in the economy.
In January-May cement production was 829 thousand tons. According to the State Statistics Committee, over the same period concrete plants produced 177 thousand tons of concrete, 60% less than for the comparable period of 2015.
The decline in cement demand affects the volumes of imports of cement material - clinker. Since the beginning of the year, in view of the finished product, 140.5 thousand tons of cement raw materials were imported, which is 55% less than in January-May last year.
Part of clinker produced in Azerbaijan is exported to Georgia. At the same time, imports and exports of clinker are carried out for about the same price - $ 46.6 per ton.
The main cement producers in Azerbaijan are LLC Norm, Gazakh Cement LLC and JSC Holcim (Azerbaijan), with the total annual capacity of more than 4.7 million tons of cement. 08B

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
