Electronic Scales to Be Installed on Motorways
President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree "On protection of public roads of state importance," according to which under the road surface there will be installed electronic scales and chips for making electronic protocols on persons violating the acceptable norm of the transportation of cargo.
Violation of the requirements for the use of roads by oversized vehicles leads to the destruction of or damage to the road surface.
Photos or videos of the vehicle on administrative violations in real time will be directed to a central information system in the Main Directorate of Traffic Police for the Electronic Protocol. To determine the sites on which electronic scales will be placed, the Cabinet of Ministers is granted a two-month period. Until the end of May, the government should develop and submit to the head of state a law aimed at regulating the issues of the electronic protocol and office documentation on administrative law violation in the operation of highways.
The question of violation of duty requirements for vehicles has always been important in Azerbaijan. Many roads are deformed immediately after commissioning. An example is the concrete road Baku-Guba, the asphalt road on the Nobel Avenue in Baku and several parts of the Baku-Gazakh (Georgia state border) highway. ---08D
