Today at the International Press Center there was an award ceremony of the press reporters in the competition on the effective control of the budget.
The project supported by the European Union, the coalition undertook several NGOs, including the Public Association for Assistance to Free Economy and the Foundation for the Support of the market economy.
According to the head of the operational sector of the European Union to Azerbaijan Federico Bern, the annual growth of the local economy requires not only government agencies, the Milli Majlis and the Chamber of Accounts, but also civil society seriously the problems of transparency of revenues and expenditures of the state budget. In Europe, which is experiencing a financial crisis, the limit tax deductions for all business groups exceeded 40%, most wealthy citizens deduct a higher percentage. Thus all realize the priority of public interest, not hiding profits from fiscal organizations. The representative of the European Union wished to all countries wishing to European model of development, manifested the same solidarity officials and entrepreneurs with society.
According to the chairman of the Public Association "Assistance to Free Economy" Zohrab Ismail, in this year's competition was a little journalistic work, but in all materials disclosed government secrecy and government agencies to query editors and representatives of civil society. Due to the creative and stylistic flaws in investigations (no hero with an attractive history, too long texts, repeated statistics) it was decided not to award the first prize. Eight works were awarded cash prizes - two second places at 480 manats and five third places at 320 manats.
The competition features works in which sounded absolutely closed the financing of public monopolies, as well as objects in investment projects. The range of publications that have agreed to publish "compromising" on the government narrows from year to year. In late February, the governments of Pakistan and Azerbaijan are expected to sign an investment agreement worth $2 billion, which will include several projects with SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan). According to Turan, the energy cooperation projects discussed in January in Islamabad and Baku will feature in the agreement. These projects include energy efficiency initiatives, the construction of a pipeline, and SOCAR’s plans to explore the creation of underground gas storage facilities in Pakistan, as well as documents provided by the Pakistani side related to the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons in the country.
