The State Statistics Committee published the statistics on health care, according to which the number of doctors in Azerbaijan in 2015 decreased by 298. The Health Ministry explains this trend with the reform of the health system.
As of January 1, 2016, the public and private clinics in the country had 32,458 doctors. Every 10,000 residents of the country account for 33.9 physicians, 0.7 physicians less than in 2014.
According to SSC, in 2015 the number of physicians decreased in the following specialties: therapists – by 105, surgeons and pediatricians – by 147, gynecologists – by 29, opticians – by 4, psychologists – by 11, etc.
The paramedical personnel in Azerbaijan at the beginning of this year amounted to 54.9 thousand people, 1,200 less than a year earlier.
In 2015, seven hospitals closed in Azerbaijan and by top January 2016 there were 559. In hospitals there are 44,900 beds, 1,500 beds less than in 2014.
Last year, four new outpatient clinics opened (1,750), while a women's consultation (137) and a children's outpatient clinic closed. -----08D

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less. This robust reserve position reflects Azerbaijan's fiscal stability and the government’s strategic economic management.
