First Repo Transaction with Non-financial Companies at BSE
Baku / 23.09.16 / Turan: For the 16 years of activity of the Baku Stock Exchange the first deal was concluded on repo operations with the participation of a non-financial company. Previously, as a rule, banks were involved in repo transactions.
The BSE press release notes that the transaction was in corporate bonds, the liquidity of which is provided by a market maker, although the daily newsletter shows that the subject of the transaction was the Ministry of Finance T-bills (AZ0104013492).
The transaction took place on September 21 and was concluded for a period of 30 days. The deal amounted to 1,464,758 manats. The interest rate was 11%
Note that the repo instrument is a transaction between the parties, providing a purchase of securities and their sale for a short period of time.
In repo the party experiencing a short-term need for cash sells its securities for a fixed term at a specified interest rate. ----08D

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
