Ganja’s New Explosives Plant Begins Full Operations
The first industrial explosives plant commissioned by “AzerGold” CJSC's subsidiary, “AzerBlast” LLC, has commenced full-scale operations in Ganja. The facility, established through a public-private partnership, aims to meet the increasing domestic demand for civilian explosives and reduce import dependence.
The inauguration event was attended by prominent figures including Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Matin Eynullayev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of “AzerGold” CJSC, Niyazi Bayramov, head of Ganja City executive power, Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Board of “AzerGold” CJSC, Harvard Kennedy School Professor Juan Jimenez, and researchers from the Harvard International Development Center.
“AzerBlast” LLC, with 51% ownership by “AzerGold” CJSC and 49% by private firm “DM Servis,” operates a plant on a 15-hectare site. Construction began in January 2023 with an initial capital investment of 11 million manats and a total investment of 15 million manats, funded entirely by the founders without impacting the state budget. The plant’s strategic location near Azerbaijan’s primary mining and industrial center, as well as the International Transport Corridor, is expected to enhance its operational efficiency.
Initially employing 35 people, the plant is projected to expand its workforce to 65. It will produce ANFO and H-ANFO explosives, designed for dry and wet environments respectively, with an annual output of 14,000 tons. Future plans include scaling production to 31,500 tons annually to meet local and export demands, driven by the mining potential in Karabakh and East Zangazur and extensive construction projects.
The plant utilizes production technology from Turkey's HTD Chemical and Engineering A.Ş. and equipment from Germany, Great Britain, and Turkey. It adheres to stringent local and international safety and environmental standards.
